10336610 Upper Truckee River at South Lake Tahoe, California: Fine Sediment Particles Model Archive Summaries

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: January 27, 2026 | Last Modified: 2021-09-23T00:00:00Z
From the 2015 water year, the U.S. Geological Survey has collected data to develop a surrogate model for estimating real-time fine sediment particles concentration and loads at Upper Truckee River at South Lake Tahoe, CA (USGS site number: 10336610). Fine sediment particles represent a size range from 0.5-16.0 microns in suspended sediment and are the leading contributor of clarity reduction in Lake Tahoe. Model archive summaries document fine sediment particle surrogate models for the real-time calculation of fine sediment particles concentration at the Upper Truckee River at South Lake Tahoe, California. The methods used to produce the surrogate models follow U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) protocols as referenced in techniques and methods and external reports (see Cross References section). This ScienceBase data release is intended to be an ongoing reference which will be re-evaluated and updated annually based on USGS policy.
