This dataset contains information on fishing activity on and size of akule schools spotted by a drone and fished using seine/fence nets for validating aerial estimates of akule school size around Oahu, Hawaii from Ovember 2017 to October 2018. The data contains information on date; start time and end time of searching by drone; the time and located a school was identified; the school size estimate; the life stage of most fish within the school; and environmental data collected at the beginning of the drone launch. The dataset also contains information from fished schools including the amount of catch from that school; the amount of fish estimated to have escaped from fishing gear; the estimated size of the school as viewed from the air by the drone; length measurements from the fished school when they were taken; and environmental data collected prior to fishing a school if the school was fished. There is no link between the drone estimate of fished schools in the fished data and drone estimates of schools in the drone data, drone flights were done separately on fishing days versus survey days.
