The Jakobshavn Glacier was observed to retreat and speed up during the late 1990s and early 2000s. One possible cause of the change in glacier behavior could be due to changes in atmosphere properties, temperature, humidity, and wind. A research program was established to monitor the atmosphere conditions near the glacier during 2009-2013.
