Texas A&M University operates the drilling vessel JOIDES Resolution for the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP). The International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) began operating in the fall of 2014 and is conducting worldwide expeditions numbered above 352, taking over where the previous Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) left off at expedition 352. The IODP is an international marine research program designed to explore Earth's history and structure as recorded in seafloor sediments and rocks, and to monitor subseafloor environments, building upon the earlier successes of the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP), the Ocean Drilling Program (ODP), and the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP). The IODP is funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and several countries, only the U.S. component of IODP data is represented in this archive. Late in 2015 or early in 2016, the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) will begin receiving core data from TAMU for long-term archival. In addition to digital core data available online, core images and other high-volume data are archived offline and available on request.
