Published by data.ct.gov | State of Connecticut | Metadata Last Checked: August 08, 2025 | Last Modified: 2024-08-06
Syndromic surveillance provides public health officials with a timely system for detecting, understanding, and monitoring health events. By tracking symptoms of patients in emergency departments—before a diagnosis is confirmed—public health can detect unusual levels of illness. Syndromic data can serve as an early warning system for public health concerns such as influenza and COVID-19 outbreaks. These data represent the percent of emergency department and urgent care visits related to Influenza Like Illness or COVID Like Illness. Additional Syndromic Surveillance information can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/nssp/overview.html.
