AtlanticCanyons2011: Exploration and Research of Mid-Atlantic Deepwater hard Bottom Habitats and Shipwrecks with Emphasis on Canyons and Coral Communities between 20110604 and 20110617
This is an interagency study that focuses on the exploration
and investigation of deepwater hard bottom biological communities located in the
northwest Atlantic Ocean offshore Virginia and Maryland. Some soft bottom work
will also be included. The study area is correlated with information needs
associated with future potential offshore leasing of the outer contenental shelf
in the mid-Atlantic region, initially, the federal offshore area designated to
the Commonwealth of Virginia.
