Published by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce | Metadata Last Checked: January 26, 2026 | Last Modified: 2013-08-08T00:00:00.000+00:00
This dataset contains a global, 4km monthly sea surface temperature climatology derived from harmonic analysis of the AVHRR Pathfinder Version 5.0 sea surface temperature time series data for 1985-2006. The climatology is available as 12 separate files, each representing one month in a climatological year. The files are in hdf format. In addition to climatological sea surface temperature, each file contains standard deviation. It only uses Pathfinder 5.0 data with a quality flag value of 4 or greater. It is available as 12 separate files in Hierarchical Data Format Version 4 (HDF4).
