It is anticipated that the NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) will be working with NY Department of State to collect digital multi-spectral imagery and create Coastal and Marine Ecological Classification Standard (CMECS) compliant digital benthic habitat data for the South Shore of Long Island, New York starting in the Summer of 2017. Benthic habitat data shall be generated for all estuarine lands below mean high water within the study area. There are three elements to this project: imagery acquisition, baseline habitat mapping, and change detection from the 2003 collection.
