Content Last Updated 2/19/2026Connecticut defines Brownfields in Section 32-760 of the Connecticut General Statutes as: "any abandoned or underutilized site where redevelopment, reuse or expansion has not occurred due to the presence or potential presence of pollution in the buildings, soil or groundwater that requires investigation or remediation before or in conjunction with the restoration, redevelopment, reuse and expansion of the property.”  CT DEEP Brownfields Site Inventory Web Page and Brownfields Excel Sheet. Data is updated annually in February and is sourced from the DECD Open Data Portal and the EPA ACRES database.
