Census tracts with no Well Water Index (WWI) assigned

Published by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention | U.S. Department of Health & Human Services | Metadata Last Checked: January 30, 2026 | Last Modified: 2026-01-20
The WWI is a screening tool that uses nationally available datasets to summarize baseline characteristics about weather-related hazards and vulnerability at the census tract level for communities reliant on private wells. This dataset contains continental US census tracts for which no WWI was created due to less than 1 estimated person being on well water in the census tract. To visualize these data, please visit the Tracking Network at https://ephtracking.cdc.gov/DataExplorer/. For a lay description of these data, please visit https://ephtracking.cdc.gov/indicatorPages and for the scientific publication detailing these data please visit https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39510280/ The data for the nationally-normed WWI can be accessed here https://data.cdc.gov/dataset/Nationally-normed-WWI/fxwg-3udm/about_data.
