Circum-Antarctic Paleobathymetry to 30° South: Present to 75my (NCEI Accession 0304547)

Published by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce | Metadata Last Checked: January 29, 2026 | Last Modified: 2025-05-27T00:00:00.000+00:00
This software package models the paleobathymetry of the circum-Antarctic oceans back to the Late Cretaceous. It is based on a revised tectonic model of the circum-Antarctic region, and incorporates features such as spatially variable subsidence rates, refined rotation poles and a detailed treatment of selected areas. The software output consists of color-coded maps at user-specified Cenozoic ages and the associated gridded paleobathymetry for all oceans lying south of 30°S. NCEI decommissioned the Circum-Antarctic Paleobathymetry to 30° South: Present to 75my in May 2025 with no plans for further updates. Comments and questions may be sent to: ncei.info@noaa.gov
