Data to accompany the study "Quick and dirty (and accurate) 3-D paleoseismic trench models using coded scale bars"
This dataset provides supporting evidence for a method of generating geometrically accurate orthophoto mosaics of paleoseismic trenches using physical scale bars printed with coded targets. These data accompany a forthcoming study by Delano et al., 2021, "Quick and dirty (and accurate) 3-D paleoseismic trench models using coded scale bars." The data constrain three-dimensional models of a 46-m long, narrow trench excavation across the Teton fault (Wyoming, USA).
Files include:
BB_photos_nwall.zip: Photographs (n= 234) in .jpg format of the north wall of the Buffalo Bowl trench used to construct models.
totalstation_control_modelpointcloud.laz: Structure-from-motion model point cloud of the Buffalo Bowl north wall, controlled with total station survey points
gnss_control_modelpointcloud.laz: Structure-from-motion model point cloud of the Buffalo Bowl north wall, controlled with GNSS survey points
scalebar10_control_modelpointcloud.laz: Structure-from-motion model point cloud of the Buffalo Bowl north wall using 10 scale bars for model control.
BB_control_rtk_TS_surveys.csv: Coordinates of wall markers surveyed with total station and GNSS (WGS84/UTM zone 12N).
BB_checkpoints_tsmodel.txt: Checkpoint coordinates from total station model.
BB_checkpoints_GNSSmodel.txt: Checkpoint coordinates from GNSS model.
BB_checkpoints_scalebars_variable.zip: Set of 15 model checkpoint coordinates using varying combinations of scalebars to control each model.
BB_checkpoints_scalebarmodel.txt: Checkpoint coordinates exported from scale bar model in an arbitrary local coordinate system.
