Data_The Influence of Parametric Uncertainty on Projections of Forest Land Use, Carbon, and Markets

Published by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency | U.S. Environmental Protection Agency | Metadata Last Checked: August 02, 2025 | Last Modified: 2019-08-07
This research project featured performing a large-scale Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) in the Global Timber Model (GTM). 277 runs were completed, and data from these scenarios were queried and synthesized by a R Shiny tool. Outputs from these runs fed into the overall distribution of results, and summary statistics which were synthesized in the mentioned paper. These results supported the conclusions of the paper, The Influence of Parametric Uncertainty on Projections of Forest Land Use, Carbon, and Markets. The only intended use of these data is to inform this paper’s findings. The data includes a record of what the parameter draws were for each of the 277 trials, and visual as well as tabular results for the distribution of results for key metrics including: forest land cover change, forest soil carbon, forest biomass carbon, “market” carbon (carbon in durable wood products), pulpwood prices, sawtimber prices, pulpwood output, and sawtimber output. Citation information for this dataset can be found in the EDG's Metadata Reference Information section and Data.gov's References section.
