DY 12-05/6 SeaCAT Data

Published by Dan Cooper | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce | Metadata Last Checked: January 27, 2026 | Last Modified: 2015-12-01T00:00:00.000+00:00
The primary objective is to conduct an assessment of eggs and larvae of walleye pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) over the eastern Bering Sea shelf. We will also examine the interactions among climate, weather, and ichthyoplankton distribution and abundance. This work is needed to describe larval fish assemblages and determine how physical and biological factors affect the transport and survival of fish larvae. The cruise is a collaboration between two AFSC Programs, The Fisheries Oceanography Coordinated Investigations Program (FOCI) and the Ecosystem Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMA). A SBE 19Plus was deployed synoptically with gear used to sample icythoplankton and zooplankton at these locations. Temperature and Conductivity were measured and Salinity and Sigma-T were derived from these measurements. While the SeaCAT measures values on the down and upcasts, only the upcasts are used.
