Emergency Department Visits for Drug-Related Suicide Attempts Have Increased

This spotlight uses data from the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) to examine emergency department visits related to suicide attempts that involved drugs. There was an overall increase in drug-related suicide attempts from 2005 to 2011 (for patients ages 12 and older). The report also examines the trends for individual age groups (12-17, 18-29, 30-44, 45-64, and 65 and older).
