Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) Aggregate Loadshape

Published by data.ct.gov | State of Connecticut | Metadata Last Checked: January 10, 2026 | Last Modified: 2026-01-07
The Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) program is an incentive program designed to help Eversource and United Illuminating (UI) customers install battery energy storage systems for their home or business. The program helps lower the cost of buying a battery by providing upfront and performance incentives. This incentive program is overseen by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), is paid for by electric ratepayers, and is administered by the Connecticut Green Bank, Eversource, and UI. This time series dataset shows the aggregate "load shape", or average system power, of all batteries enrolled in Connecticut's Virtual Power Plant (VPP) as operated through the ESS program, broken down by residential or commercial host sites, at 15-minute intervals. Positive values indicate charging activity, while negative values indicate discharge to local load or the grid. Telemetry data, including historical data, is subject to ongoing quality control and quality assurance and may be updated, revised, or corrected periodically. More information and an interactive dashboard of this and other program data can be found at https://energystoragect.com/ess-performance-report/
