EnviroAtlas - Ecosystem Service Market and Project Enabling Conditions, U.S., 2016, Forest Trends' Ecosystem Marketplace
This EnviroAtlas dataset contains polygons depicting conditions enabling market-based programs, referred to herein as markets, and projects addressing ecosystem services protection in the United States. Polygons represent the area in which a particular condition, policy, or regulation is implemented with the result of direct or indirect facilitation of a market-based approach to investing in and protecting biodiversity (i.e., imperiled species/habitats; wetlands and streams), carbon, and/or water ecosystem services. The data were collected via desk research conducted by Forest Trends' Ecosystem Marketplace during 2015-2016. Attribute data include the ecosystem service(s) of interest, year established, design mechanisms(s) employed, and the regulatory authority associated with a particular condition. This dataset was produced by Forest Trends' Ecosystem Marketplace for Enviroatlas in order to support public access to and use of information related to environmental markets. EnviroAtlas (https://www.epa.gov/enviroatlas) allows the user to interact with a web-based, easy-to-use, mapping application to view and analyze multiple ecosystem services for the contiguous United States. The dataset is available as downloadable data (https://edg.epa.gov/data/Public/ORD/EnviroAtlas) or as an EnviroAtlas map service. Additional descriptive information about this dataset can be found in its associated EnviroAtlas Fact Sheet (https://www.epa.gov/enviroatlas/enviroatlas-fact-sheets).
