Estimates of biomass reductions of ozone sensitive herbaceous plants in California

Published by U.S. EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD) | U.S. Environmental Protection Agency | Metadata Last Checked: August 02, 2025 | Last Modified: 2023-03-23
We estimated risk of biomass loss due to ozone for selected ozone-sensitive herbaceous plants in California. We combined U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ozone monitoring data from the entirety of 2016 with published exposure-response relationships from controlled exposure experiments for twenty herbaceous plant species occurring in California. Dataset includes previously published exposure response functions for the twenty plant species, ozone exposure metrics in AOT40 for each monitor in CA for the selected year, map of the interpolated ozone surface, RMSE of the interpolation, and maps of estimated biomass loss for the herbaceous plant species. This dataset is associated with the following publication: Kaylor, S.D., S.J. Snell Taylor, and J. Herrick. Estimates of biomass reductions of ozone sensitive herbaceous plants in California. SCIENCE OF THE TOTAL ENVIRONMENT. Elsevier BV, AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS, 878: 163134, (2023).
