"description": "Included in this table is all of the faults in the Portland and Tualatin Basins with lengths from the Quaternary Fold and Fault Database, and depths calculated from focal mechanisms, obtained from the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. Regressions from Wells and Coppersmith (1994) are used to estimate the maximum magnitude earthquake (for strike-slip and reverse faults) that would be generated if a rupture were to occur along the entire length of the fault. Minimum fault depths calculated from focal mechanisms are used to calculate fault area and a regression from Hanks and Bakken (2002) for all fault types is used to calculate another magnitude estimate."
