Fire Prevention Success Stories

Published by CAL FIRE | State of California | Metadata Last Checked: July 28, 2025 | Last Modified: 2025-01-30T08:31:36.000Z
The purpose of this application is to spatially represent and provide links to CALFIRE Fire Prevention Success Stories. While CALFIRE is most publicly visible during large fire suppression efforts, the Department does a tremendous amount of work on the ground that prevents wildfires from getting out of control in the first place. The Fire Plan program, with assistance from CALFIRE units, collects Success Stories to highlight the import work that is done behind the scenes, and the key role it plays in managing wildfires in California. The application shows fire prevention treatments, both lines and polygons, as logged in CalMAPPER. Only treatments with a 'Most Recent Activity' date of 1/1/2017 are included. This application also includes perimeters of any non-prescribed, non-training fires since 1980.To view a Success Story, click on a point and follow the link. To find Fire Prevention treatments near you, type your location into the address search bar.
