The feature classes HYDROL and HYDROP contain vector lines and polygons representing the coastal shoreline and hydrography used in the creation of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) of the Lake Erie - 2022 ESI Geodatabase, classified by their susceptibility to oiling. The HYDROP (hydrography polygons) layer delineates the shoreline, and identifies areas as either Land or Water. The HYDROL (hydrography lines) layer depicts one continuous linear shoreline. The study area includes the United States portion of Lake Erie, covering the coastal portions of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York from the Michigan/Ohio border to the west to the New York/Canada border to the east. As a whole, the ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil, and includes information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.
