Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: January 27, 2026 | Last Modified: 2020-08-18T00:00:00Z
Six time-series data files are included in this release. The files contain mechanical data (described below) collected during deformation experiments performed on obsidian gouge. A detailed description of the experiments along with the data reduction procedures are provided in the published manuscript: Proctor, B.P., Lockner, D.A., Lowenstern, J.B., and Beeler, N.M., 2017, Conversion of Wet Glass to Melt at Lower Seismogenic Zone Conditions: Implications for Pseudotachylyte Creep: Geophysical Research Letters, v. 44, no. 20, p. 10248–10255, https://doi.org/10.1002/2017GL075344.
