Groundwater-Quality Sample Data for Abandoned Underground Coal Mine Aquifers in West Virginia, 1973 through 2016

This data file represents a compilation of existing water-quality data associated with abandoned underground coal mine aquifers in West Virginia. The first two lines of this file should be used for header information. Its intended use is as a reconnaissance tool for the purpose of directing future studies focusing on underground mine-pools. Data incorporated into this spreadsheet were obtained from multiple sources including government and academic institutions. Water-quality samples were collected from 7/13/1973 through 9/7/2016 by independent studies using multiple methods. This project identified spatially extensive data that could be attributed to abandoned underground-coal-mine aquifers throughout West Virginia and includes 770 samples from 294 sites originating from multiple coal seams.
