Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Shoreline Bird Inventory Dataset

Bird surveys were conducted in March 2005 along shorelines in and adjacent to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park . Variables recorded at the start and end of each survey included time, GPS location, observer initials, temperature in Fahrenheit, cloud cover estimated to the nearest five percent, wind speed according to the Beaufort Wind Scale, and precipitation according to a five-point scale (no precipitation, mist or fog, drizzle, light rain, and heavy rain). Each bird recorded was accompanied with the GPS location of the bird, or GPS location of the observer with distance and bearing to the bird. Habitat type at the birds's location was also recorded using 21 habitat classifications. GPS location was documented usintga Garmin 12 CX and using the Universal Transverse Mercator, North American Datum 1983, 5Q.
