In vitro intestinal toxicity of cppper oxide nanoparticles in rat and human models

Published by U.S. EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD) | U.S. Environmental Protection Agency | Metadata Last Checked: August 02, 2025 | Last Modified: 2019-07-03
Dose response viability data of rat and human intestinal cells exposed to copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO, Cu2O), CuSO4 and CuCl (rat cells only). Assays examining a potential mechanism of toxicity were included (generation of H2O2 and loss of GSH) and the effect on mitochondria. Dissolution of CuO and Cu2O nanoparticles was also examined. This dataset is associated with the following publication: Henson, T., J. Navratilova, A. Tennant, K. Bradham, K. Rogers, and M. Hughes. In vitro intestinal toxicity of copper oxide nanoparticles in rat and human cell models. Nanotoxicology. Informa Healthcare, London, UK, 13(6): 795-811, (2019).
