LANDFIRE Remap 2016 Landscape File (LCP)

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: January 27, 2026 | Last Modified: 2023-01-11T00:00:00Z
An LCP file (.lcp) is a raw format with a 7,316 byte header. The data type for all bands is 16-bit signed integer. Bands are interleaved by pixel. Five bands are required: elevation, slope, aspect, fuel model, and tree canopy cover. Crown fuel bands (canopy height, canopy base height, canopy bulk density), and surface fuel bands (duff, coarse woody debris) are optional. This LCP file utilizes LANDFIRE data, including the optional crown fuel bands but currently not including the optional surface fuel bands. Users can specify Fire Behavior Fuel Model 13 (Anderson, 1982) or 40 (Scott and Burgan, 2005). For additional information on LCP, including header format descriptions, see http://www.gdal.org/frmt_lcp.html.
