List of paired groundwater and surface-water sites operated by the U.S. Geological Survey in the State of Mississippi and within the Mississippi Alluvial Plain and monitoring shallow groundwater conditions

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: January 27, 2026 | Last Modified: 2022-01-13T00:00:00Z
This file contains site identification information of streamgages and paired wells to the streamgages operated by the U.S. Geological Survey in the State of Mississippi and within the Mississippi Alluvial Plain to monitor shallow groundwater conditions and aid in understanding the interaction between groundwater and surface water. Useful background on pairing groundwater and surface-water monitoring is provided by Constantz and others (2012). Differing scientific purposes of modeling or statistical studies could benefit from the identification of these sites for isolation or removal from comprehensive groundwater-level data projects for the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer.
