LISTEN (Long-term Investigations into Soundscapes, Trends, Ecosystems, and Noise ) 2021-2022: Beaked whale click detections and 3D localizations at GC14_01 & GC14_02

This dataset contains 3D localizations of beaked whales at the LISTEN Green Canyon acoustic monitoring site. An array of three High-frequency Acoustic Recording Packages (HARPs) were deployed at this site in September 2021 for one year, including two 4-channel tracking HARPs. Echolocation clicks detected on both 4-channel tracking HARPs were localized in three dimensions. Detected species included the goose-beaked whale, Gervais' beaked whale, and Blainville's beaked whale. The two tracking HARPs (GC14_01 and GC14_02), deployed 772 m apart, each continuously recorded all four hydrophones at a 100 kHz sampling rate from September 7, 2021, to March 25 and 26, 2022, respectively. This dataset includes click detection times and localizations for several individuals in each species. In addition to this dataset (CSV file), there are several associated files, including a README explaining the different variables and units, as well as the research article detailing Where’s Whaledo (Snyder et al., 2024), which was used in this study. Positions of those two tracking HARPs are updated (from previous NCEI datasets) based on the localization data verified as part of this project (critical step in the 3D tracking pipeline).
