This map displays optical validation observation locations and percent coverage of scleractinian coral and sand overlaid on bathymetry and landsat imagery northwest of Hawai'i island. Optical data were collected by CRED TOAD camera sled from the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary R/V Kohola cruise SB1505 and the NOAA survey launch R/V AHI during cruise SB1207. A drop camera system was used on the Nature Conservancy R/V Kaka for the final 4 days of the SB1505 cruise. Additional drop camera data was collected by the NOAA Biogeography group during 2006-07. Diver photoquadrat images were collected by The Nature Conservancy in 2010 and 2012-14, the Hawaii Institue of Marine Biology in 2011 and the CRED Benthic team in 2005-06, 2008, 2010 and 2014.
