Published by FEMA/RESILIENCE/FIMA | Department of Homeland Security | Metadata Last Checked: August 02, 2025 | Last Modified: 2025-07-01T11:27:25-04:00
This dataset includes information associated with Community Assistance Visits (CAV), a type of engagement in which FEMA or its state partners conduct a comprehensive assessment of a community's floodplain management program and understanding of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). rnThe CAV is intended to support communities in improving their floodplain management practices and to remedy identified issues. Each record reports non-PII data gathered during each visit, including generalized ratings and general details of the CAV such as the type of agency conducting it or associated dates. This dataset originates within the Community Information System (CIS), which is the database and system of record for the FEMA NFIP Floodplain Management Program, as well as the management system for its activities. All associated floodplain data are manually entered into the CIS within 30 days of the floodplain management activity, with subsequent update entry entered on an as needed basis. Associated CAV and floodplain activity documentation, correspondence, and other pertinent information of community, State, and Federal actions are stored in CIS.
