*This version has been superseded by a newer version. It is highly recommended for users to access the current version. Users should only access this superseded version for special cases, such as reproducing studies. If necessary, this version can be accessed by contacting NCEI.* This intermediate product of High-Resolution Infrared Radiation Sounder (HIRS) Brightness Temperature (TB) data is from level 1b HIRS data. The data are converted into a NOAA HIRS Clear-Sky Channel 12 TB CDR at NCDC. The intermediate products include HIRS all-sky (binary), HIRS clear-sky (binary), and HIRS Limb-corrected clear-sky (ascii) data. The HIRS all-sky data are brightness temperatures for channels 1-19 processed from HIRS level 1b records. Cloud-removal procedures are performed to the all-sky data to generate clear-sky datasets. Limb-correction is then applied to clear-sky observations to obtain limb-corrected brightness temperatures. The data span from 1978 to the most current full year.
