The GOES-R Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) Level 2 Ice Age and Thickness (AITA) contains determination of sea and lake ice thickness and age information of each clear pixel data acquired by the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) on the GOES-R series. The core of the ice thickness and age algorithm used to create this product is a One-dimensional Thermodynamic Ice Model (OTIM), which all components of the surface energy budget that are needed for the estimation of sea and lake ice thickness. Based on ice thickness, ice is classified into open water, new/fresh ice, grey ice, grey-white ice, thin first year ice, medium first year ice, thick first year ice, first year ice, and multi-year or older ice.
