Published by National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce | Metadata Last Checked: December 19, 2025 | Last Modified: 2012-01-01T00:00:00.000+00:00
This dataset contains unified Multibeam Backscatter GeoTiffs with 4x4 meter cell resolution describing the geomorphology of 15 areas along the shelf edge off the South Atlantic Bight where NOAA South East Fisheries Independent Survey (SEFIS) are conducting research on Red Snapper (lutjanus campechanus). The multibeam data covers a total of 232 sq km and was collected in 2010 by the NOAA Ship Nancy Foster with a hull-mounted Kongsberg Simrad EM 1002 multibeam echo sounder (95 kHz). It was processed by NOAA's NOS/NCCOS/CCMA Biogeography Branch using FlederMause 7 Geocoder and Hypack 2012 Geocoder. The processed backscatter data was used to generate an 8 bit GeoTiff that was exported to ArcGIS 10 for aditional masking and stretching operations.
