Ocean Currents (U, V, W) and temperature time-series measurements collected from two ADCP ocean moorings (5-month summer and 8-month winter) at long-term Mooring Site M2 on the southeastern Bering Sea shelf, Alaska, by the EcoFOCI group at NOAA, PMEL, 2018-05-02 to 2019-04-24 (NCEI Accession 0311368)

M2 - These time-series sets consist of data from two Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) moorings at the long-term mooring site "M2" on the southeastern Bering Sea Shelf. The two moorings comprised: 1) a summer surface mooring deployed from NOAA ship Oscar Dyson in May, 2018 (cruise DY18-05, ID 18bsp-2a); and 2) a follow-on subsurface mooring deployed from Fishing Vessel F/V Aquila in October, 2018 (cruise AQ18-01, ID 18bs-2c). The summer deployment (18bsp-2a) was in the water from May to October, 2018 and was recovered via cruise AQ18-01; the over-winter platform (18bsp-2b) collected data from October, 2018 to April, 2019, and was recovered by NOAA Ship Oscar Dyson (cruise DY19-04). Water depth at this site is on average 70 meters. Data were collected using Teledyne RDI Workhorse Sentinel ADCP (WCP) (s/n 1950 and 3072). Data include U (east), V (north) and W (vertical) velocity components, Werr and temperature. The cruises were funded by NOAA, PMEL for the EcoFOCI program which included scientists from both NOAA and the University of Washington, Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean, and Ecosystem Studies (CICOES). Deployment and recovery operations on this cruise were managed by EcoFOCI personnel. Mooring time series data were processed at NOAA/PMEL/EcoFOCI using standard techniques. Time is recorded as UTC. Data were submitted as CF-compliant NetCDF files. Data contacts: Phyllis Stabeno, Shaun Bell, Ryan McCabe, Peggy Sullivan.
