A program to measure waves, water levels, and currents near the Chandeleur Islands, Louisiana and adjacent berm construction site was conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) during Summer and Autumn 2010. The Chandeleur Islands have been the subject of ongoing USGS studies of coastal erosion and land loss. The berm was being constructed by the State of Louisiana in response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The oceanographic measurements accompany USGS observations of geomorphic response to storms of the berm and Chandeleur Islands.
