OMG Swath Gridded Multibeam Echo Sounding (MBES) Bathymetry

Published by NASA/JPL/OMG;NASA/JPL/PODAAC | National Aeronautics and Space Administration | Metadata Last Checked: January 17, 2026 | Last Modified: 2026-01-13
This dataset contains level 2 in situ depth measurements from Multibeam Echo Sounder System (MBES) instruments. These depths were used to map the bathymetry around ocean terminating glaciers of Greenland. The bathymetry mapping is part of the Oceans Melting Greenland (OMG) project. The goal of the project is to find out what contributions the ocean has on Greenland's melting glaciers. The MBES was onboard a ship so the tracks are not of a swath, but less regularly patterned as the ship is limited as to where it can traverse due to floating glaciers, ice cover and general weather conditions. Bathymetry was also measured with the Singlebeam Echo Sounder System (SBES) in areas where the MBES could not go, but has less spatial coverage.
