The dataset contains satellite-derived sea-surface ocean color (chlorophyll-a) measurements collected by means of the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) sensor onboard the NASA Suomi National Polar-Orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) spacecraft. The data is available at weekly and monthly intervals at a spatial resolution of 0.05 degrees, from 2012 to present. The geographic coverage is global.
