The dataset contains satellite-derived sea-surface temperature measurements collected by means of the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer - Global Area Coverage (AVHRR-GAC) sensor onboard the NOAA polar orbiting satellite constellation. The data consists of Pathfinder AVHRR SST data collected between 1985-2003; existing data thereafter consists of AVHRR-GAC data. Dataset contains weekly and monthly composites at a spatial resolution of 0.1 degrees. The geographic coverage extends for the entire globe.
