Particulate matter - dry weight from 2015-10-01 to 2016-03-31 observed over Kanpur, India and simulated by the Geophysical Fluid Dynamic Laboratory Atmospheric Model 4 (GFDL AM4) (NCEI Accession 0204645)

This dataset contains two types of data. 1) Formatted observed (MATLAB .mat file) hourly PM2.5 concentrations downloaded from India's Central Pollution Control Board over the period 10/01/2015 - 03/31/2016. The file CPCB_HOURLY.mat is a 25x4394 matrix: the first two columns are the latitude and longitude of the station locations. columns 3:end correspond to every hour or the time period. Invalid or missing measurements are denoted by NaN. 2) Model output netCDF (.nc) files of daily average PM2.5. For the period 10/01/1981 to 03/31/2010, CMIP6 emissions calculated to include aerosol water vapor separated into 5-year chunks. For the period 10/01/2011-03/31/2016, 4 different model outputs are provided. i) CMIP5 emissions calculated to include aerosol water vapor, ii) CMIP6 emissions calculated to exclude aerosol water vapor, iii) CMIP6 emissions calculated to include aerosol water vapor, iv) CMIP6 emissions calculated to include aerosol water vapor based on GEOS-CHEM hygroscopic growth factors.
