Patent AT-E400088-T1: [Translated] DEVICE WITH A FREQUENCY DIVIDER
Frequency dividers (2) comprising sections (21-27) are provided with basic sections of a first type (21,23,24) for dividing frequency signals (f") by adjustable numbers in dependence of adjustment signals (p") and in dependence of control signals (c") originating from later sections and are provided with advanced sections (22) of a second type comprising additional circuitry 55,56,64,66,67. This additional circuitry 55,56,64,66,67 allows any modulation to be performed on a limited number of earlier sections, later sections are not affected. As a result, the frequency divider (2) can be extended, for example with programmable sections (26,27) having an active and an inactive mode, without any modulating needing to be adapted. Thereto, the circuitry 55,56,64,66,67 receives modulation signals (mo,ml) and an additional control signal (c3). Such a frequency divider (2) is low cost, reliable and robust and can easily be implemented.
