Patent AT-E400422-T1: [Translated] METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING A THERMOFORMED PLASTIC FILM PROVIDED WITH A SURFACE GRAIN

Published by National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) | U.S. Department of Health & Human Services | Metadata Last Checked: September 07, 2025 | Last Modified: 2025-09-06
The invention relates to a method and a device for producing a thermoformed plastic film having an embossed surface. According to said method, a plastic film (8) heated until it is malleable is thermoformed, provided with the embossed surface and then solidified by cooling. The heated plastic film (8) is thermoformed by a heated positive tool (4) and is then introduced into a non-porous negative tool (1) that is provided with the embossed surface (2) and has a higher temperature. The space remaining between the plastic film (8) and the negative tool (1) is evacuated, the back of the film is impinged upon with pressure by a flow medium and the embossed surface is transferred to the front of the plastic film. A gap is formed between the positive tool and the back of the plastic film and the plastic film is cooled to a temperature below its forming temperature by passing a flow medium in the gap and then removed.
