This short report from the Drug Abuse Warning Network examines emergency department (ED) visits that involved a drug-related suicide attempt. It looks at the characteristics of the ED visits where the patient left against medical advice (before the ED visit was completed). It discusses how patients who left the ED before their treatment was completed may have missed a critical opportunity to receive medical follow-up.
