Physical, chemical, and biological data from the THOMAS WASHINGTON on the TASADAY Expedition, Legs I, II, III, and IV, in the Pacific and Indian Oceans from 1973-06-05 to 1973-09-06
Nutrient and pigment (chlorophyll) data received by NODC's Ocean Climate Laboratory. These data were collected as part of the Scripps TASADAY expedition in the Pacific and Indian Oceans during 1973-1974. Leg I of the TASADAY expedition had the dual purpose of investigating temperature and salinity of the water column and studying aspects of the biological energy flow, nutrient cycles, and planktonic standing stocks. The principal study site for Leg I was in the central gyre region of the North Pacific and at the western edge of the California current. Leg II of the TASADAY expedition primarily continued the work of Leg I. Leg III TASADAY investigations were designed to provide data on the westward extent of the North Pacific central gyre region. Data were collected on Leg IV during late summer 1973 in the North Pacific.
Data parameters include: position, date, wind and wave data, clouds, temperature, salinity, pressure, oxygen, phosphate, silicate, nitrite (NO2), nitrate (NO3), Chlorophyll-a, phaeopigment, and Carbon-14 assimilation rates.
