Phytoplankton and particulate chemical fluxes at Station M from 2003-10-14 to 2017-11-13 (NCEI Accession 0241430)

These data were collected as part of the California Sea Grant award R/HCME-37. Data were generated from analysis of a sinking particle samples collected in a bottom-moored sediment trap deployed at deep sea time series Station M. Samples selected for analysis were associated with anomalous high particulate organic carbon flux events observed over the past 30 years of the time series. The dataset includes bulk fluxes associated with each sample and also the taxonomically resolved fluxes of phytoplankton cells quantified within the samples. Bulk fluxes include those previously reported by Smith et al. (2018) (particulate organic carbon flux, particulate inorganic carbon flux, and mass flux) and new data generated by this study (biogenic silica flux, total cell flux, and the flux of each phytoplankton taxa detected by microscopy).
