Phytoplankton Communities and Biomass in Lakes in the Noatak National Preserve July 2006

Published by National Park Service | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: January 25, 2026 | Last Modified: 2009-03-24T00:00:00Z
These data provide information about phytoplankton community composition and biomass in 8 lakes in the Noatak National Preserve during early to mid July 2006. Phytoplankton were collected using an integrated tube sampler, preserved in Lugol's solution and sent to Phycotech for analysis. Files include a raw data file and a summary report. Phytoplankton was collected by the Arctic Network Inventroy and Monitoring Program (NPS) and Chris Luecke (Utah State University). In addition to collecting phytoplankton, we also collected zooplankton and used a multiparmater instrument (Hach Hydrolab) to obtain vertical profiles of temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, specific conductivity and relative chlorophyll fluorescence. Concentrations of total nitrogen and total phosphorus in the epilimnion were determined. These datasets are aslo stored on the NPS data store.
