EPA regulates hazardous waste under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) to ensure these wastes are managed in ways that protect human health and the environment. Generators of hazardous waste are regulated based on the amount of hazardous waste they generate in a calendar month, not the size of their business or facility. This data includes 5 categories of hazardous waste generators: LQG: Large Quantity Generators (LQGs), as part of EPA’s RCRAInfo system, generate 1,000 kilograms per month or more of hazardous waste or more than one kilogram per month of acutely hazardous waste. The data are extracted from RCRAInfo with the GENSTATUS flag that equals “LQG”. SQG: Small Quantity Generators (SQGs), as part of EPA’s RCRAInfo system, generate more than 100 kilograms, but less than 1,000 kilograms of hazardous waste per month. The data are extracted from RCRAInfo with the GENSTATUS flag that equals “SQG”. VSQG: Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQGs), as part of EPA’s RCRAInfo system, generate 100 kilograms or less per month of hazardous waste or one kilogram or less per month of acutely hazardous waste. The data are extracted from RCRAInfo with the GENSTATUS flag that equals “VSQG”. CEG: Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQGs), as part of EPA’s RCRAInfo system, generate no more than 100 kilograms of hazardous waste per month. The data are extracted from RCRAInfo with the GENSTATUS flag that equals “CEG” (CEG is a standardized tag for CESQG in RCRAInfo database). TDSF: The Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities (TSDF) are the generators of EPA’s RCRAInfo system that generate, treat, store, and dispose of hazardous waste. The data are extracted from RCRAInfo with the ACTIVE_SITE flag that contains “P”.
