Published by California Department of Fish and Wildlife | State of California | Metadata Last Checked: July 29, 2025 | Last Modified: 2023-07-27T15:21:46.422012
Recreational sandy beach angler counts from Progressive Angler Surveys (PAS) from 2007 to 2020 in Monterey County and from 2007 to 2008 in Santa Cruz County, and from On Site Angler Surveys, with tidal stage during count, from 2007 to 2008 in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. Instantaneous counts from PAS, and hourly counts from On Site Surveys, of recreational anglers fishing from shore on sandy beaches in Monterey and Santa Curz counties were documented from 2007 to 2020. Counts are separated by site number within each county as established by CDFW California Recreational Fisheries Survey protocols. Counts at each site are further distinguished by whether or not the count occurred during a 4-hour window centered at time of high tide. On site counts were done at the top of each hour during the 10- to 12-hr daylight period, and total number of unique anglers was recorded for each day. This data and metadata were submitted by California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Staff though the Data Management Plan (DMP) framework with the id: DMP000081.
