Salmon Fry Production (natural-origin) - Cedar River

Published by cos-data.seattle.gov | City of Seattle | Metadata Last Checked: July 29, 2025 | Last Modified: 2025-01-02
Since 1993, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has collected daily salmon outmigrant information from the Cedar River and estimates the annual natural-origin (sockeye) and wild (Chinook and coho) fry production for the year. All past production estimates are included in the latest report. Data provide estimates of egg to fry survival, migration timing, trapping efficiencies, and PIT array detections (as available). Seattle Public Utilities contributed funding to support this monitoring activity from 2005-2022 as part of the fulfillment of sockeye monitored associated with the Landsburg Mitigation Agreement and Cedar River Sockeye Monitoring Program. Methods and data are available from the report below (WDFW). The Publications website for WDFW provides public access to annual reports from 1997-2021 (https://wdfw.wa.gov/publications).
