This dataset contains inverted echo sounder data collected from two stations in the western Pacific, TPW nominally @ 2S and 154E and TPE nominally @ 2S and 164E. The station names derive from sites corresponding to trajectory intersections from the TOPEX/POSEIDON satellite. TPW (TPE) at crossing of pass numbers 086 and 251 (060 and 225). The work is in conjunction with NAG 5-2058, Inverted Echo Sounder To Open-Ocean Validation of Ocean Topography Experiment / Poseidon Sea Level. The format is in the NODC format for pressure gauge data (file type FT-017) adapted for Inverted Echo Sounder Data. Data obtained with hourly, 24-burst samples, analyzed for "best" return and then interpolated onto the hour.
