This mission is funded by the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) through the Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS) regional association. The near-real time in situ temperature and salinity water column data collected as a result of this project will be utilized for data assimilation to improve the accuracy of hurricane models. The glider was deployed south of the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico and will maintain a presence in the Western Gulf of Mexico for the duration of the deployment.
